MUSCLE LOSS
MUSCLE WEAKNESS
DIMINISHED SEX DRIVE
DECREASED ERECTILE QUALITY
MENTAL FOG
FATIGUE
MOOD SWINGS
DEPRESSION
ANGER

Does this sound familiar, maybe your reading this and having a “light bulb moment”. These are just some of the symptoms of andropause, or what some may call manopause, the male version of menopause. Some other symptoms are:

REDUCTION IN BODY HAIR
POOR SPATIAL ORIENTATION
DECREASED BONE DENSITY
INCREASED ABDOMINAL FAT
BREAST ENLARGEMENT

What makes me increasingly irate is there is little to no awareness out there, this is a very serious issue for all men, which can be quite easily treated. Andropause hits between 35 and 65 when the effects of a males declining testosterone begins to appear. Like menopause in women, the symptoms and side effects vary greatly from person to person. Due to this unspoken and in most cases unheard of topic, men become increasingly agitated, anxious and depressed as their masculine attributes decline without warning. Research has established that men are biologically less verbal and less emotional communicators than women, which makes this even more difficult to diagnose and therefore treat. As men begin their private struggle through andropause, their behavior can become quite destructive, this can have detrimental effects on their family’s and themselves.

Below are some natural ways to boost testosterone levels through food and supplementation:

Foods: Free Range Eggs: Good cholesterol (different than blood cholesterol) is believe it or not the building blocks for all sex hormones
Oysters: High in protein and zinc, boosts sex drive
Garlic: High in allicin, improves blood flow and increases good cholesterol
Almonds: Full of the building blocks of testosterone
Beef: High in amino acids, creatine and saturated fats to increase testosterone
Avocados: High in B6, folic acid and good fats all great for testosterone
Protein powder: full of casein and amino acids

Supplements:
Z.M.A – zinc, magnesium and b6
D-aspartic acid
Resveratrol
S.A.R.M.S

Medical intervention is sometimes the best and only option for some, a good doctor will test and treat you with HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

At 33 I have not yet personally experienced andropause, however I have seen many friends and clients suffer, I am thankful I have had the knowledge to help. I hope this blog spread some awareness about andropause (menopause).
