Ever wondered why when we lose body fat, the areas we want to lose comes off last???

Check out my article to learn more..

Stubborn Fat is a slow metabolised adipose fat tissue that tends to take place in the belly, lower back, butt, hips and thighs. Your body contains two types of fat cell receptors: alpha fat receptors and beta fat receptors. Alpha fat receptors help to store body fat, they also stop the release of fat as energy and they have decreased fat cell blood flow. Blood flow is very important when it comes to fat loss. Less blood flow means less fat loss. Beta fat receptors on the other hand, are the receptors we want as they release fat when you need energy for activity lasting longer than 20 minutes, they also increase blood flow to fat cells.

All fat cells contain both receptors; stubborn fat however contain a higher ratio of alpha fat receptor up to 10 times more than other fat on your body, it also contains more estrogen receptors which accelerates fat gain, hence the reason when we are on eating and exercise plan designed to lose body fat, the stubborn areas are the last to go. This can be very frustrating when dieting for a competition. It’s imperative to understand also that the more body fat we hold the higher our estrogen levels become therefore this lowers out testosterone levels. The idea of gaining large amounts of fat to bulk up muscle contradicts itself.

Here are the reasons why we create stubborn fat:

  1. The inability of the liver to break down and detoxify estrogenic derivatives from an unhealthy diet and alcohol consumption
  2. Sensitivity to certain foods or chemicals in foods
  3. Insulin over-sensitivity caused by an over consumption of carbohydrates especially simple carbs (sugar) and highly processed carbs
  4. Deficiency in certain nutrients and minerals
  5. Stubborn fat can be linked to certain defficiency’s in protein, more so in vegetarians due to a lack of lysine, which converts to l Carnitine in our body
  6. Stubborn fat increases in older men due to the aromatizing of testosterone (testosterone turning into estrogen)
  7. Women usually suffer from age-related stubborn fat around their hips, thighs, and butt. Some women have stubborn-fat tissues around their upper arms or entire legs. Age-related stubborn fat for women may be the result of hormonal fluctuations, or an increase in estrogen receptors in the tissues.

So what can we do to lose stubborn fat faster you ask? Well unfortunately there is no hard and fast way to do this. You need to ensure you are on a personalised eating plan, supplemental protocol and exercise program and persist with this until you get lean enough that you lose the stubborn fat then you must stick with a good maintenance plan for life. If you have been following my posts you will also now know that it is crucial we do not fluctuate our body fat.

We need to be educated enough to learn how to eat and train to be lean for life while enjoying food and life at the same time.
